Programs

Lego® League — March 1 at 5:30pm-6:15pm Kids ages 6 to 11 can play with our blocks and make new friends in the Nan Abbott Room. Children under 8 years old must be with an adult. Sign up children at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/albert-l-scott-library.

Toddler Tales Reads Dr. Seuss – March 4 at 10:30am-11:00am It’s rhyme time, music, and more with Miss Jennie during this special story time. Sign up children at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/albert-l-scott-library.

Pete the Cat Book Club – March 8 at 6:00pm Kids age 6 to 11 years old can sign up for reading fun. Children under 8 years old must be with an adult. Sign up children at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/albert-l-scott-library. Meets in the Nan Abbott Room.

Homeschool Happening – March 14 at 10:00am-11:00am Students age 6 to 11 years old can sign up to learn all about the library’s Maker Space: laser cutter, 3D printer, button maker and Silhouette Cameo 4! Children under 8 years old must be with an adult. Meets in the Nan Abbott Room and then proceeds to the Maker Space in the Adult Fiction Room. 4-H Shelby Scientists Club – March 17 at 4:00pm Kids age 9 to 18 years old can join our new science club. It’s led by Julie Yocom, Shelby County 4-H Foundation Regional Extension Agent, Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Sign up children at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/albert-l-scott-library. American Girls Club – March 25 at 4:30pm Fans of the American Girls books, characters and dolls can take part in a session of old-fashioned games. Children under 8 years old must be with an adult. Meets in the Nan Abbott Room.

Spring Break Story Time – March 30 at 10:15am-11am Sign up children at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/albert-l-scott-library. Children under 8 years old must be with an adult. Meets in the Nan Abbott Room.

 

Special Activities

Bean Bag Bonanza – Beginning March 28 join us for a kids’ spring break “bonanza” at the circulation desk. Check out books and play our bean bag toss for fun prizes.

DIY Bookmark Contest –Enjoy drawing? During this year’s National Library Week we will be receiving custom book mark submissions from elementary-high school students. You can come pick up your own bookmark template to design and submit between 4/4-4/11. The winners will be commissioned and copied for the public to use! For more information contact the Library circulation desk.

Pete the Cat Book Club – April 19 at 6:00pm Kids age 6 to 11 years old can sign up for fun and games at https://www.eventbrite.com/o/albert-l-scott-library.  Children under 8 years old must be with an adult. Meets in the Nan Abbott Room.

American Girls Club – April 22 at 4:30pm Fans of the American Girls books, characters and dolls can take part in our Spring Fashion Show. Wear an outfit of your choice. Family and friends can be in the audience. Children age 6 years old to 11 years old can sign up to model, with or without a doll.
