Beautification Board Summer Winners

Robert and Judy Chambless have lived in this attractive Ward 2 home at 101 Wagon Trail for three years, making some major updates to the house and yard including replacing the roof and removing over-grown shrubs. People regularly stop to admire the yard. Robert has had a rose bush for 65 years. As he says, “I’ve taken it to every place I’ve ever lived. I named it ‘My Rose.’” Plantings include: Crepe Myrtles, Snowball bush, Blueberry bushes, Knock Out roses, Sunflowers, Daylilies, SunPatiens, and Zinnias.

This Ward 5 home at 205 Sweet Bay Drive has been well maintained by its owner, and careful planning in the design has brought about remarkable improvements. Two large trees from the front flowerbed and over-grown shrubs have been removed. New plants such as pink roses, Loropetalum, Stella d’Oro daylilies, Limelight hydrangea, and a variety of others have been added. The beautiful yard adds value to the property and allure to the neighborhood.

Beautification Board Do’s and Don’ts For Award Recognition

The Beatification Board has received many wonderful nominations over the years for our residential and commercial recognition awards in Alabaster Connection.  As part of the ongoing nomination process we thought it would be beneficial to review some of the Do’s and Don’ts we have encountered over time in hope that this might help everyone understand the judging criteria more clearly.
Note: the following examples are not in Alabaster. They were selected for example purposes only.
