Alabaster Government Academy

The Alabaster Government Academy gives participants an up-close and hands-on look at each city department. Throughout the class, about 25 participants tour various city facilities, speak with employees and department heads, and learn how Alabaster provides first-class services to its residents and businesses.  In January, the group visited the new police station and got a briefing on the department’s operations before touring the new facility and seeing the APD’s bomb disposal robot, night vision drone, and equipment used by the Shelby County Tactical Response Unit. The academy begins in mid-September and meets twice a month through mid-February. A full schedule will be provided to individuals selected to participate in the program
