The June 2022 Beautification Board winner is the Ward 5 home of John and Alma Gaertner at 137 Lake Forest Way. The Gaertners have lived in their home for 20 years, with Mr. Gaertner doing all the work himself until his late 70s.When told they had won the award, Mr. Gaertner said with a smile, “Well it finally paid off.” In addition to sculpted shrubbery and a perfectly maintained lawn, bordered beds are planted with knock-out roses and various colorful perennials. The flag pole adds a patriotic flair to the meticulously maintained property.

The July 2022 Beautification Board winner is the Ward 6 home of Roger and Cindy Benson at 292 Silver Creek Parkway. Rustic wood shutters and a wood front door accent the washed brick exterior. The bordered bed along the houseline includes Arborvitae, Encore azaleas, False Cypress “Lemon Thread,” Lace Leaf Japanese Maples, Fountain Grass, Verbena, Petunias, and Vinca. Iron planters add interest and feature colorful potted plants that add color and height.
